The ASA EPIC

AMERSFOORT-SAUERLAND-AMERSFOORT

The ASA Epic is a 1000 km self-supported ultra-cycling event through the Netherlands, crossing the German border and into Sauerland and the Teutoburger Wald.

 

The route is designed for you to get a feeling of what the Netherlands and Western Germany have to offer you in terms of nature and culture. Along the way you will find a continuously changing landscape of heather, rivers, forests, hills and flatlands. Besides this you will find small towns, cities, medieval castles, industrial heritage and roman remains along the route,showcasing the cultural diversity of the region.

A challenging 1000km road adventure on quiet roads with amazing views through the most beautiful regions of the Netherlands and Western Germany. 

May 14 - May 20 2026

Starting on the 15th of May at 06:00, you will have 132 hours to finish the route (deadline is on May 20th at 18:00). This means that you’ll need to do at least 182km per day to make the deadline.

 

On the 14th of May the registrations and pasta party will take place. 

Self-supported

It’s a race against the clock and an adventure at the same time. You’ll be on your own, but never alone, because friends and family can follow you on your tracker.

 

There’s both a solo and pair category.

RULES

SPIRIT

1. Riders must complete the full course from start to finish

2. Riders must be fully self-supported

3. Riders may not draft at any time (except for the pair category)

4. Riders must comply to local laws at any time 

5. Riders are required to always use the provided GPS-tracker

6. Riders use human-powered bikes only (no e-bikes allowed)

7. Riders may not litter

The ASA Epic is a single-stage race against the clock. Participants plan and research the route and choose when and where to rest, eat and sleep for themselves. It is an individual challenge in which third-party help is not allowed.

 

Remember that the other participants are fending for themselves as well. So we kindly ask you to adhere to the spirit of
